BESIG - You lead, I’ll follow: Creative strategies for fostering emergent language and learner autonomy in the Business English online classroom
Many online teachers find it challenging to provide learners with meaningful practice of emergent language.
This workshop presents Business English teachers with a practical framework (SELFi - Student Emergent Language Framework interactive) to capture and develop emergent language in online lessons.
The workshop will show participants how the SELFi can help teachers gain confidence in developing their reactive teaching skills when working with emergent language and help put learners in charge of their own learning.
Participants will then have the chance to get hands-on experience of exploring a range of interactive activities I have developed to exploit the language that emerges in the classroom.
These include micro-listening, speaking and reflection tasks, which participants can easily adapt to their own online classroom environment.
Participants will leave this practical workshop with a set of easy-to-use tools which foster creativity and boost learner autonomy.
Make sure you register timely as spaces are limited. Registration closes on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Please note: The workshop lasts 2 hours and will not be recorded.
