Setting up a teaching association

Teachers and schools form Teaching Associations for a wide variety of reasons. First there are practical, tangible benefits of becoming an IATEFL Associate in the IATEFL network. This includes opportunities to organise and participate in conferences, local training and development opportunities, newsletters and online discussion forums. In addition, the sense of belonging to a professional community can be a crucial source of inspiration for many English language teachers.

Working together, teachers can raise standards in English language teaching and learning. They can make improvements to in-service teacher training, foster high academic and professional standards, and offer better opportunities for group evaluation and discussion.
