LTSIG - Once upon … a game: where stories and games spark learning!
2 speakers and 2 differents approaches to this topic.
Speaker 1: Jamie Keddie
Tittle: Title: A story-based approach to audio-visual
What is it about language teachers and video? Why do we turn to YouTube for material and inspiration? Adverts, short films and TikTok videos might be fun and entertaining – but why bring them into the classroom?
The answer is simple. Like all human beings, learners need narrative. As teachers, we intuitively know this and video provides us with a constant stream of visual stories to engage them.
In this practical talk, you will learn an fresh, innovative approach called ‘videotelling’, which brings the story – and your students – to the front of the class. You will learn how to harness the full multimodal power of video to get learners speaking, writing, thinking and storytelling.

Speaker 2: Nick Michelioudakis
Tttle: Gamification and AI
‘How about a game?’ This question has to be one of the easiest ways to send student motivation soaring. In the past, games in class were a rare treat; now however, not only are there many more of them readily available online, but AI has given us the option to turn ordinary activities into games.
This workshop aims to show you five practical activities that you can use in order to boost student motivation by gamifying your lessons.
