Join us for "Teacher Change," a transformative online conference for EFL teachers worldwide. Change is an essential part of a teacher's professional journey, and this two-day conference will focus on different aspects of how it enables our growth. Ben Dobbs
Ben Dobbs is director of LTT Analytics and the creator of the Change Resistance Drivers test. He delivers training to leaders and managers internationally on subjects including change and transformation, coaching, and more.
What Drives Resistance to Change?
This session will examine the concept of the 12 Change Resistance Drivers and how and why these lead to opposition to organisational and cultural change before continuing to reflect on the actions that strategic leaders and managers as well as staff members need to take in order to overcome resistance to change in a positive manner that contributes to “buy-in” and, ultimately, the successful implementation of change.
Leonardo Marinho Dias Lima
Leonardo Marinho Dias Lima (MEd TESOL - University of Exeter - Hornby Scholar) has 18 years of experience in language education as a teacher, trainer, and academic manager. He is passionate about teacher training and teacher development in the Global South, integrating educational technologies and innovative teaching strategies.
Connecting Islands of Practice: Transforming TESOL Professional Development through Action Research
This session aims to introduce a transformative framework designed to integrate collaborative action research into TESOL professional development. The session offers a comprehensive approach to professional growth by exploring innovative strategies to redefine career paths, hold individual and team reflection meetings, establish action research labs, and foster a sustainable culture of collaboration. Participants will gain insights into practical steps for implementing these practices, which are tailored to enhance teaching quality and improve student outcomes across diverse educational settings. Ultimately, we will discuss ways by which collaborative action research can drive meaningful change and elevate the standards of TESOL education.
Silvana Accardo
Silvana Accardo is a graduated EFL Teacher from ENS en Lenguas Vivas “Sofía E. B. de Spangenberg”, where she teaches Aesthetic Discourses and coordinates the English Department at the secondary level. She currently teaches Children’s & Young Adult Literature, Comprehensive Sexuality Education and Creativity at state-run Teacher Training Colleges in Buenos Aires.

Teacher change is a complex process influenced by a myriad of interconnected factors. This presentation explores the key elements that may contribute, both positively or negatively, to teacher growth and development. By examining individual and contextual factors, we will delve into the intricacies of teacher transformation. Understanding these elements - how they affect our profession - is crucial for designing effective professional development programs and creating supportive school environments that foster innovation and improvement in teaching practices. It will also include a situated experience at a secondary school in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
