TDSIG & Braz-TESOL Brasilia Web Carnival: Critical pedagogy in ELT 2022

Join IATEFL Teacher Development SIG and Braz-TESOL Brasilia for this web carnival.

The relationship between teacher, learner, and education itself is a foundational aspect throughout Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy. This emancipation from the typical ‘teacher-to-student’ to one of necessary and natural agency continues to be discussed, disagreed upon, and further interpreted even today. 

Through our celebration of Freire’s 100th birthday at the Web Carnival this February, IATEFL TDSIG and Braz-TESOL Brasilia are creating spaces for our communities to explore what critical pedagogy means for all of us in 2022 and how we are (or aren’t) applying it in our ELT industry/profession.

During January, we will be previewing this two-day web conference through social media via chats and community sharing articles submitted on topic.

We are asking for 'pay what you can' for registration fees.

33% of donations will fund the continued work of TDSIG and another 33% for Braz-TESOL Brasilia. An outside charity will receive the remaining 34% less costs from the GoFundMe website.
