This session offers an overview of considerations for instructional design for live online language teaching. The session will include a discussion on learning objectives at the course and lesson level, frameworks for technology use, and considerations for cognitive load in materials. You will hear about some affordances and challenges experienced in the live online English teaching for the Center of Language Outreach, Research, and Study (COLORS) at the University of Central Florida. Participants will be able to interact with colleagues and articulate plans for their next live online lesson design.

Christina Torres
Christina Torres is an assistant professor in TESOL at the University of Central Florida. Her research interests include second language writing, written corrective feedback, teacher training, and instructional design. She is a principal investigator and coordinator for the virtual Center of Language Outreach, Research, and Study (COLORS) at UCF. She is currently working in Huelva, Spain on a 9-month Fulbright postdoctoral/early career research project on multiliteracies and telecollaboration for teacher training and service learning (2024-2025).
