An event in the International Festival of Mentoring Teacher-Research (2024–25)
(http://bit.ly/MentoringTRfestival). Mentoring teacher-research is increasingly seen as potentially powerful in enhancing professional development, yet it presents many challenges. This event aims to explore these challenges and provide effective strategies for overcoming them. Hosted as a follow-up to the Teachers Research!
Online 2024 conference, this event will showcase the invaluable work of mentors in guiding and supporting teachers to conduct teacher research, particularly in Global South contexts. From navigating methodological complexities to fostering a supportive learning environment through teacher-research, experienced mentors will share their insights, best practices, and innovative approaches.

Speaker:
Richard Smith (event chair) is Professor of ELT and Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick. He is known for his work introducing teachers in various Global South contexts to practitioner inquiry in the form of Exploratory Action Research and for the framework he has developed for mentoring teacher-research. He is the originator of the Teachers Research! series of conferences, Founder and Chair of MenTRnet – an international network of mentors of teacher-research (https://mentoring-tr.weebly.com/) – and Chair of the International Festival of Mentoring Teacher-Research (2024–25).
