BESIG: What is real communication? An exploration for the classroom

Join IATEFL Business English SIG and Roy Bicknell for this webinar.

How teachers and students communicate with each other is at the heart of learning. This webinar aims to bring more to the foreground what often engages our minds, as educators and learners. I will be inviting a couple of my fellow ELT colleagues to reflect on questions around the theme – what is real communication? – but then in the classroom, whatever its context. Their responses will be either pre-recorded or live for review in the webinar. I have also designed two small-group activities around this same theme. My colleagues will also be asked to comment and reflect on how they would adapt or use these in their own classroom.

The webinar is therefore deliberately exploratory and open-ended. You can expect a wide-ranging discussion on everything from active listening, classroom feedback to teacher-student talk and more. I invite you to attend the webinar and add your own reflections and views to this ongoing collaboration and exploration.
