Join IATEFL Young Learners & Teenagers SIG, together with Sarah Smith and Claire Steele from eltonix for this mini course.
The mini course will run on the 27, 28 and 29 October from 09.00 – 11.00 (UK time) each day.
This IATEFL YLTSIG mini course is brought to you by eltonix. For six hours, you will explore how to use art in the primary English classroom to inspire and develop language, cognitive skills and creativity with your learners.
Session 1 – Exploring art
You will discover magical ways to look at, explore and exploit artworks to generate and practise language.
Session 2 – Exploiting art
You will use images to inspire speaking and writing tasks in class that will engage your primary English learners.
Session 3 – Creating art
This session should speak to your inner artist and that of your learners! You will discover ways of creating art in the classroom with your learners to develop their creativity.
Sarah Smith (she/her)has worked as a teacher, academic manager and teacher trainer internationally in ELT. Her main interests are teacher training and development, developing life skills and inclusion and diversity in the classroom. She is co-founder and director of eltonix.
Claire Steele has worked as a teacher, manager and teacher educator in ELT since 2001. Claire is also co-founder and director of eltonix. With an MA in secondary education specialising in teaching art, Claire is very much looking forward to discussing this special interest!
The mini course will take place on Zoom Meeting.
