Inquiry-based learning in the Primary classroom

IATEFL Webinar presented by Michelle Worgan.

Learner-centred approaches can really increase engagement and motivation in the young learner classroom, however they are not widely used in ELT due to a lack of training and practical information on how to use them. Inquiry-based learning is learner-centred, focuses on real world learning and fosters a range of skills including critical thinking, communication and collaboration.

In this webinar, we’ll look at the stages involved in inquiry-based learning, we’ll view practical examples of an inquiry designed for primary-aged English language learners, and we’ll explore why this approach can be so effective. You’ll be encouraged to consider how you could use inquiry-based learning with your own learners and to think about what kind of inquiry would work in your classroom, as well as how it could work within your syllabus.

You’ll leave the session with ideas on how to set up an inquiry, how to include and plan for personal choice and different types of output, and where to find resources to support you with the process.
