PronSIG webinar: læb bites: out of the ESL bubble and into the language lab – Stella Maris Palavecino

An IATEFL PronSIG recorded webinar presented by Stella Maris Palavecino (recorded February 2021)

Teaching pronunciation intelligibly does not release teachers from the burden of finding ways of making some aspects of oral communication noticeable to the learners. At some point, learners need to listen to themselves and gain phonological awareness of (perhaps seemingly) unintelligible mismatches in pronunciation. How can this be attained? This presentation is aimed to show how to bridge the gap between intelligible and unintelligible sound bites, working with oral texts, on a free platform designed for language laboratory use: one of the most suitable ICT tools to achieve this goal.

A Master in TEFL, Stella Palavecino is a graduate EFL teacher, specialised in Higher Education and ICT, English Phonetics and Phonology, and Didactics. She lectures in Phonetics at Teacher Training colleges and Translation Programmes in B.A. Argentina.
