Register now for our 40th anniversary PCE

To celebrate 40 years of PronSIG, our PCE at this year’s IATEFL Annual Conference is themed around teaching pronunciation across the lifespan, and features four sessions focused on four different learner age groups. Read on for more information and to learn how to register for your ticket.

PCE title: ‘Lifelong Voices: Teaching Pronunciation from Childhood to Seniorhood’

PCE abstract:

From the first playful sounds of childhood to the more deliberate speech goals of adult learners, pronunciation instruction is an essential component of the English language classroom for every age group. In 2026, to celebrate PronSIG’s 40th anniversary, our PCE will explore the theme of age, looking specifically at how pronunciation instruction can effectively support learners across the lifespan. Through interactive sessions, expert insights, and practical demonstrations, we will examine developmental, cognitive, and affective factors that shape pronunciation learning as we grow and age. Participants will discover how to tailor instruction to meet the needs of young learners who are just starting to build their phonological awareness, teenagers navigating identity and intelligibility, adults refining their speech for global communication and professional contexts, and for senior learners maintaining the memory and building fluency and confidence.

Lifelong Voices invites classroom-based teachers, coaches, trainers, and researchers to join us for this very special 40th anniversary PCE where we will celebrate the diversity of English learners’ voices at every age and explore how pronunciation teaching can truly be for life.

PCE day session recordings

As always, all four sessions of our PCE will be recorded and made available to ticket holders after the conference. Therefore, if you can’t attend due to scheduling constraints or are in a time zone that makes coming live difficult, registering for an online ticket ensures you will still get access to this content.
