Launch of ESP Unplugged during the ESPSIG PCE at Brighton
We are excited about the launch of ‘ESP Unplugged’ during the ESPSIG PCE at Brighton. It is an initiative where we listen to stories from ESP, EAP, EMI, CLIL, EOP/EPP professionals: how they moved into this field, how their paths evolved, what their specific context is like and their reflections.
In the first episode of this podcast series, we listen to Ros Wright, a seasoned specialist in healthcare communication. She talks to Ioana Cretu about how she fell into clinical communication by sheer chance, the resources she used to upskill herself, the frameworks she used during training, how she discovered her niche, and her experiences along the way. Listen to it here.
Webinar on 29 May 2026
The webinar ‘Developing Larger Identities and Roles as an EOP Professional’ is at 14.00 (UK time) on 29 May. The speaker, Anne Lomperis, spearheaded an initiative to develop international standards, or best practices, in English for Occupational Purposes (EOP). With five co-authors and review teams set up in 45 countries, it took nine years to go to publication. She has expanded on these best practices to develop a larger EOP Framework of higher-level services and greater professionalism.
The session will explore how professionals in EOP can expand their roles through different levels of needs assessment, from national economic priorities to organizational and individual workplace needs. Case studies will illustrate issues at each of these levels. Participant input will be sought. To know more about the event and register, click here
