Types of membership

Choose the type of membership which is right for you. Whilst most people choose Individual membership, we offer discounted rates for students, those at the start of their English teaching career, and also for those who have retired. We also offer reduced-cost membership for institutions and organisations where multiple staff members can benefit.

Prices shown are valid until 31 August 2026. Please read our terms and conditions of membership before you join IATEFL. All members are expected to abide by these at all times.

Individual membership options:

Individual membership

£79 per year. 1 SIG included. Additional SIGs £24.50

Student membership

£55.50 per year. 1 SIG included. Additional SIGs £24.50
Only available to full-time students. Proof of student status must be provided e.g. scan of your dated student card.

Early Career membership

£55.50 per year. 1 SIG included. Additional SIGs £24.50
Only available to first time members in the first three years of their English language teaching career. CV as verification is required.

Retired membership

£64.50 per year. 1 SIG included. Additional SIGs £24.50
Only available to people who have retired and are therefore no longer working in the English language teaching profession.

Membership for schools, colleges, universities and other institutions and organisations:

Organisational membership

20% discount on Individual membership.
1 SIG of their choice included for each member. Additional SIGs £24.50
Only available to organisations and institutions with a minimum of 4 staff members taking, or already having, IATEFL membership.

How do I join IATEFL?

Once you’re ready to join, then:

Create a free IATEFL account, or log in if you already have one
Select your ‘Dashboard‘ from the top of the page
Select ‘Join IATEFL or renew membership’ from the menu on the left, and then select your preferred membership type.
