ELT materials are typically created with an imagined 'average' learner in mind, even though real classrooms are influenced by the variety among learners. This webinar looks at how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) can be used to guide the writing, assessment and adaptation of ELT materials from the very beginning.
The session will look at how materials writers and teachers can create meaningful choice, offer varied support, provide multiple ways of engaging with the content, and give learners flexible opportunities to show that they understand, all without having to prepare several versions of the same lesson.
Participants will leave with a practical framework which they can use when reviewing and redesigning ELT tasks so that the materials become more inclusive, accessible, and responsive to a wider range of learners while still providing an appropriate level of challenge and clear learning goals.
