GISIG Newsletter | Archive

For twenty-five years, the IATEFL Global Issues Special Interest Group published a regular newsletter for its members, containing news, views and articles on a wide range of social and environmental issues impacting English language professionals (and their students). From its first issue (published July 1995), to Issue 41 (released March 2020) – after which the biannual publication was re-imagined as an e-zine, FUTURITY – the newsletter archive provides us with a fascinating insight to the work of previous SIG members, friends and allies, over a quarter of a century.

In 2018, extracts from over 70 contributions to the GISIG Newsletter were compiled and published in the anthology Global Issues in an Uncertain World (edited by former GISIG joint-coordinator Chris Sowton). IATEFL Global Issues SIG members now have exclusive access to the GISIG Newsletter archive, including two special issues produced in collaboration with the Guinea Bissau Teachers’ Association (ELTA-GB), via the links below.

IATEFL has made me a better teacher, and also to mature as a person and professional while giving me the tools to develop.
