IATEFL Associates Day 2026

Location: Skyline, Brighton Centre
Date & Time: 20th April 2026 from 09.30 (UK time) to 17.15 (UK time)

We are delighted that you are representing your Association in Brighton this year at the Associates’ Day. Please see below everything that you need to know about the day.

What is Associates’ Day About?

The main purpose of Associates’ Day is to discuss and share views about the running of Teacher Associations (TAs), rather than talking about teaching and learning. Pedagogy/Andragogy, methodology, teacher development and classroom practice are all focussed on during the main conference. But, the fact that Associates’ Day is attended by you, people who are all deeply involved in the setting up and running of organisations and TAs, gives us the unique opportunity to discuss the management, administration, responsibilities, running of events and budgeting of a TA.

Badge collection:

Your delegate badge will be available to collect at the IATEFL Registration Desk, which opens at 7:30am on Monday 20th April. To register and pick up your badge go straight to the main entrance of the Brighton Centre. You can also pick up your delegate bag and programme in this location.

This badge gives you access to all the academic sessions and evening events for the duration of the conference, so do not lose it as there is a 10GBP charge for replacements. You cannot access the sessions or evening events without your badge.

Will I get a certificate of attendance for attending Associates’ Day?

All delegates and speakers will be emailed a certificate of attendance after the event. Please note, it may take up to two weeks after the Conference for your certificate to appear. This delay may be longer if you register onsite.

I am doing a presentation at Associates’ Day. What do I need to know?

The talk should be no longer than 10 minutes. You’re welcome to use slides if you wish.

A laptop and large screen will be available in the room on the day. Please bring your presentation on a USB stick, and it’s also a good idea to email it to yourself as a backup in case of any technical issues.

I am doing a poster presentation. What do I need to do?

A poster presentation is a visual and verbal format used at academic and professional conferences to share research findings, or in our case information about your Teaching Association, combining a large, illustrated poster with a brief, interactive conversation.

Minimum size 60cm wide x 85cm high
Maximum size 75cm wide x 1 metre high

We need to fit them onto the boards prepared in our room. We will provide Velcro to attach the posters to the board, but it’s advisable to bring your own blue tack or Sellotape too.
Tip: The best paper to use is paper of regular weight, which we use for printers and photocopiers. Please remember, the thicker and fancier the paper, the heavier it is, and it may end up falling off the board.

Please Note:

Cloakroom: There is a cloakroom in the Brighton Centre. It is £2 an item in cash. To pay by card you will need to get a receipt from the registration desk.

No Luggage: There have been some changes in venue rules which means that luggage is no longer permitted in the venue. The Brighton Centre strictly prohibits bags larger than A4 size (roughly 21cm x 30cm x 19cm) to ensure safety. Suitcases, large rucksacks, and backpacks are not permitted, and there are no storage facilities on-site. It is highly recommended to leave large luggage at your hotel or use local storage.  Click here to read more about this and find recommendation of where you may leave your luggage upon arrival and departure.

Lunch:

Lunch will be provided at Associates’ Day so if you haven’t done so already, please let me know if you have any dietary requirements or allergies.

Pre-Conference Events:

Please note, our Pre-Conference Events (PCEs) take place on the same day as Associates’ Day, so you will not be able to attend a PCE.
