IATEFL Career Guides: 'How to move from being a teacher to becoming a teacher trainer.'

Join  IATEFL Career Guides and Silvana Richardson for this session; 'How to move from being a teacher to becoming a teacher trainer'.

Silvana will be discussing with you the major disruption caused by the COVID pandemic to our personal and professional lives which has led many teachers to question whether they want to go back to doing the same thing in the same way. Perhaps you are considering what to do next and wondering whether a career in teacher training might be for you. In this webinar, we’ll explore together what this change – moving from teacher to teacher of teachers might mean for you. We will consider the different reasons why teachers might want to become teachers of teachers, what you already bring to the role as a language teacher, how you can become a teacher of teachers in your context, what you can do to find out if you are ready for the role, and to develop your expertise to prepare for it.

Silvana Richardson is Head of Education at Bell Educational Services, Academic Director at Bell Teacher Academy and Strategic Education Advisor at the Bell Foundation. She has been involved in English Language Teaching and Language Teacher Education for over three decades, working in different sectors and contexts as EFL, ESOL, ESP and MFL teacher, teacher educator, trainer and mentor of teacher educators and school leaders in the state and public sectors in primary, secondary, further and higher education institutions the UK and abroad, academic manager, quality assurance inspector, conference speaker and author. Her current interests include impactful design of teacher education programmes and sustainable staff learning and development.
