'Teaching speaking online'

An IATEFL webinar presented by Hugh Dellar

In this webinar, we’ll be discussing what needs to happen if our students are to get better at speaking and how teachers working online can best facilitate this. To begin with, we'll be looking at the importance of a conversation-driven approach when it comes to designing online classes, and then we'll move on consider how to build predictions about possible emergent language into your planning, the crucial role that teachers modelling tasks can play, how and when to give feedback on student output, and some of the ways that we can build recycling and repetition into all of our speaking classes.

Hugh Dellar has over twenty-five years’ experience in the field and is the co-founder of the online school and training company Lexical Lab. He has co-authored two five-level General English series, Outcomes and Innovations, both published by National Geographic Learning, as well as one level of the high-school series Perspectives. His first methodology book, Teaching Lexically, came out via Delta Publishing in 2016. Most recently, he has worked on two levels of the new Pearson General English series, Roadmap and Grammar Nonsense . . . and what to do about it, which was put out by Wayzgoose Press.
