PronSIG: Ideas for fostering phonological awareness in the Early Years class: Training a new generation of Pronthusiasts

Brief summary of the SIG event

Join IATEFL Pronunciation SIG and Viktor Carresquero for this webinar.

Introducing very young learners to the music that surrounds us - the environment, objects and music instruments - helps them better identify how sound qualities, such as rhythm, speed and volume change naturally. In this webinar, Viktor will share some of the activities he has used to raise his 4 and 5 year old students’ awareness of phonological units through play, song, and body and instrumental percussion. The techniques that Viktor will share are aimed at scaffolding and complementing children’s increasing awareness of linguistic sounds, as they prepare to start their more formal journey in reading and writing.
