The IATEFL Frank Bell Scholarship

The IATEFL Frank Bell Scholarship, is run by the Bell Trust in memory of their founder.  The purpose of the scholarship is to help new teachers to attend IATEFL's annual conference for the first time.

It is not necessary to be a member of IATEFL to apply for this scholarship, nor is it necessary to submit a paper for presentation at the conference.

It is necessary to be a practising teacher who has not previously attended the conference. No one can be awarded the scholarship more than once.

The scholarship will cover the conference registration fee and four nights’ accommodation with some help toward meals and travel expenses.

After conference you will be required to submit a 250 word abstract for publication by IATEFL and Bell on your impressions of the conference, to be submitted by June.

To be considered applicants are asked to:

  • send a brief curriculum vitae and passport-sized photograph
  • a 500-word article on ‘The value of going to IATEFL' or on a recent teaching project you have been involved in
  • send all of the above by the end of September
  • mark their envelopes: "IATEFL Frank Bell Scholarship".

A decision will be made by the Bell Trust in consultation with the Scholarship Working Party in October.
